I am an American lady living in England these past 17 years. Married, 2 grown sons, 2 grandsons. Enjoy reading, concerts and am learning ballroom dancing. Would be fun to hear from anyone across the big pond!
Ballroom DancingHello friends Ive just posted a few pictures of a party we had at our dance studio We had to dress as students in honour of back to school night It was great fun
Footyref and I started ballroom and latin dance classes in January of 2006 Neither of us had any natural talent for dance but we had a desire to learn
Its hard work and were only doing it for social purposes Those who compete are working very hard and that is way beyond our ability at our age
Still its been a challenge The studio is located in an old shoe factory and is three flights up very steep and winding stairs We felt wed achieved something just by reaching the studio
We lost one of our beloved instructors in January of 2007 He died after a brief illness and it was a shock His lady and partner has carried on with the classes and is now our only instructor
After nearly 2 years of instruction we can now do basics in these dances waltz quickstep rhythm foxtrot mumbo samba cha cha cha rock n roll jive tango square tango and slow foxtrot We are about to start learning the paso doble
Its a great way to enjoy time together and to meet other people in a friendly social environment We have practice dances once a month where all the classes get together Its great to watch the more advanced students to see whats coming in the future
In two weeks we have our Haloween night Footy ref is going as Darth Vadar complete with real light saber which was a Christmas present last year and I will be a witch My broom is at the ready
Dancing has brought great joy into our lives and we look forward to our weekly class and practice on Wednesday nights We highly recommend it as a fun keep fit activity

Hello! Dancing is going really well - lots of new steps to learn but lots of fun. The job has been keeping me very busy but hope to ease up a bit in the summer! |
